Homage to Spring

The official start of spring is marked by something called the vernal equinox, which is one of two days of the year where the earth gets 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of nighttime…a perfect balance of opposites.

The Vernal Equinox for 2014 is today, March 20 and I am honoring this day by creating some of my own pairing of opposites.

Let me start by saying that it is the rare occasion that I wear flats, and its even more rare to see me in sneakers!!  But today I chose a pair of  Givenchy skater sneakers with a pink floral print.  My goal was to illustrate that pairing opposites can create an interesting and fun balance….for example, the boyishness of the shoe against the girly-ness of the flowery print forms a wonderful dichotomy.   The leather biker jacket paired with a lacy circle skirt pits hard against soft, and with the bag I chose to be a bit more obvious by picking one that was both black AND white….another perfect pairing of opposites.
